Stages Productions is set to release its latest production, Double Dose, on Friday, April 15.

Double Dose tells the story of paternal delinquency, and its after effects. Archibald Wilson has connections in Ocho Rios, a very dark past which haunts him to this day. He shares his business place, ‘Archie Pargie’, with Imogene, one of his past lovers, and she tries at every opportunity to rekindle a fire long extinguished, even though she is involved with a much younger man, Shebada.

Archibald thinks his days of romance are over, until two young ladies of the night – Pinky and Chiquitita – arrive at his business place. These two have connections in Ocho Rios and are desperately trying to escape the long arm of the law. They see Archibald as their plane ticket to safety, and Archibald sees them as one last chance of romance.

Imogene is angry at this idea, and starts chasing Archibald, causing major issues between herself and Shebada. An invitation to a family reunion in Ocho Rios puts everyone in a quandary. Pinky and Chiquitita are nervous that Archibald might find out their true identity, and imogene is upset that she might lose what she worked so long and hard for.

The family reunion reveals much more than Archibald bargained for, giving an amazing revelation about the true identity of one of the girls who gives him a “double dose of bitter medicine”, leaving him thinking if lightning really strikes the same place twice. What could it be?

Double Dose is set to open on Friday, April 15, at the Green Gables Theat, 6 Cargill Avenue, Kingston 10. Fans can expect the usual entertainment with a cast led by Keith ‘Shebada’ Ramsay, Garfield ‘Bad Boy Trevor’ Reid, Abigail Grant, Juliet Shank, Caroline Brown and Natalie Cole. Double Dose is written by David McIntosh, and is expected to provide the type of entertainment that Stages Productions has intently provided over the years.

Promotions company Irish and Chin promises two full nights of top Jamaican theater with a dancehall twist

This latest comedic masterpiece, which hails from Stages Productions, boasts a seasoned cast including the one and only Keith “Shebada” Ramsay, Abigail “Maude” Grant, Maxwell “Run Tings” Grant, Maylynne “Barbara” Walton, Luke “Makka” Ellington, Junior Williams and Orville “Ruler” Hall. Notably, the premiere of “Ghett-Out” marks the highly anticipated return of popular actor Keith Ramsay to New York and Connecticut and to his namesake role of “Shebada.” “Ghett-Out” features several members of the breakout sensation play, “Bashment Granny.”

Over the past two years, Irish and Chin has brought some of Jamaica’s best theater to New York and the tri-state area. Dedicated to providing a top rate entertainment experience to patrons, Irish and Chin incorporates a dancehall element into all of their stagings. Irish and Chin has teamed up with JW Promotions, headed by Junior Wellington, for the Hartford, Connecticut leg. With many years of theater promotions and event production experience under their belt, JW Promotions is an ideal company to partner with. Like Irish and Chin, JW Promotions aims to please patrons. It’s always a success when Irish and Chin and JW Promotions collaborate.

From the overall ambiance to the guest hosts, giveaways and dancehall infused intermissions, Irish and Chin’s stagings resemble full-fledged bashments. Fit for patrons of all ages, everyone exits Irish and Chin’s shows with smiles on their faces. To add to the exciting Hartford and Queens productions of “Ghett-Out,” the over-the-top and witty Jamaican comedian Pretty Boy Floyd will take on the role of host and resident comic. Impressive giveaways will go down at both stagings. And of course, it wouldn’t be an Irish and Chin promotion without top dancehall music from DJ Roy of IrieJam radio.

“Ghett-Out” is centered on real-life inner-city struggles of residents seeking a better life. “Ghett-Out” follows the lives of residents in a tenement yard who are met face to face with corruption as their little “piece” of real-estate is set to be transformed into a thriving housing project and commercial district. As the action unfolds, things get sticky for all involved. Humorous injections, especially from Shebada, Maude and Ruler, will ensure eruptions of laugher among audience members.

On the surface, “Ghett-Out” is all fun and games, but an undercurrent exploring corruption and socio-political commentary in Jamaica lurks throughout, adding to the appeal of the production. Fast-paced and entertaining, theatergoers are guaranteed spontaneous laughter from cast performances, especially the antics of Shebada, Maude and Ruler.

This is the final week to watch Stages Productions’ hit comedy play, GhettOut, as the show wraps up its Kingston performances on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at the Green Gables Theatre.

Since its gala premiere, GhettOut has reportedly received critical acclaim for its startlingly realistic portrayal of inner city life, and its hugely entertaining content.

Starring Keith ‘Shebada’ Ramsay, GhettOut tells the story of Barbara, who is now a whopping two million dollars richer following the mysterious death of her husband in the United States. She however faces a major hurdle. How can she retrieve the cash and then transport it to Jamaica without being detected. She teams up with ‘Ruler’ who, through his questionable connections, engineers a plot to transport the cash to Jamaica in its ‘raw’ state using a number of persons to ensure its safe passage through customs. Among his contacts is the mayor, who offers this safe passage if Barbara helps him persuade the ghetto people to sell their land in order to make way for a new housing development.

As the plot gets more complicated, Ruler’s association with Barbara deepens, raising serious concerns for his wife Maude, who is determined to hold on to her man. Then there are the two corrupt officers of the law, driven by greed and eager to get in on the business.

‘Shebada’ has his hands full with trying to solve the murder mystery of Barbara’s husband, giving Maude advice on how to keep her man, getting entangled with the mayor in defending the rights of the community, while keeping an eye on ‘Ruler’ and the corrupt officers. It all ads up to GhettOut being a murder mystery topped with large portions of comedic entertainment.

Written by Michael Denton and directed by B.L. Allen, GhettOut’s talented cast includes Maylynne Walton, Maxwell Grant, Orville Hall, Abigail Grant, Luke Ellington and Junior Williams.

Written by Michael Denton, ‘Ghett-O-Life’ is a murder mystery topped with large portions of comedic entertainment, and starring Keith ‘Shebada’ Ramsay (among others). According to Bunny Allen, chairman of Stages Productions, ‘Ghett-O-Life’ promises to uphold the company’s reputation of producing quality productions that are guaranteed to attract mass audiences.

According to Allen, “there is a constant demand for our brand, both locally and overseas, because our customers have come to rely on our ability to deliver extremely entertaining productions. We take that responsibility very seriously and ensure that each production meets the standard or even surpasses the bar set by previous shows.”

‘Ghett-O-Life’ tells the story of Barbara, who is now a whopping US$2 million richer following the mysterious death of her husband in the United States. She, however, faces a major hurdle – how can she retrieve the cash and transport it to Jamaica without being detected?

Following the official launch of July 30, ‘Ghett-O-Life’ will play at the Green Gables Theatre from Wednesday to Saturday at 8:30 p.m., and on Sundays at 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Top Jamaican actor, Keith “Shebada” Ramsay, will make his last U.S. performances of the year on Saturday, July 24 at York College in Queens and Sunday, July 25 at Wingate High School in Brooklyn. To great anticipation and by popular demand, the actor will appear in Irish and Chin’s encore performances of the hit play “Serious Business.

After two sold-out stagings of “Serious Business” in early June, the Irish and Chin office was inundated with requests for another show. Clearly, the many people who missed the New York shows were anxious for another opportunity to see the hit play. For these reasons, popular dancehall promotions team Irish and Chin pegged encore performances of the play from Stages Productions.

“I really look forward to returning to New York,” said Keith “Shebada” Ramsay enthusiastically. “After the last show, fans were waiting to meet me, but I had to get to the airport……hopefully, I will get to meet some of them this time.”

“We had to do it again … the hype from our staging in early June flooded the streets and calls came pouring in,” said Garfield “Chin” Bourne of Irish & Chin. “It took a lot of effort to make this rerun possible because the cast was fully booked, however, at the last minute a weekend was canceled and I grabbed it.”

Because this will mark the last run of the “Serious Business” play, patrons are encouraged to buy their tickets in advance. Now is a chance for those who missed Irish and Chin’s first two stagings of “Serious Business” in Brooklyn and Queens to find out what the incredible buzz is all about. And if one has already taken in “Serious Business,” they can now bring friends to experience a great evening of humorous Jamaican theater.

Irish and Chin promises the complete dancehall and theater package at the July shows, with DJ Roy providing intense dancehall selections before the play and during intermission. Patrons have been ranting over the vibes, describing an Irish and Chin play as if it were a dance. Because the raffle at the June shows was a hit, Theatergoers will once again be able to enter a raffle for a great giveaway – this time, an Ashley living room set will be up for grabs at both the Brooklyn and Queens shows. So, all-in-all, those in attendance will be able to enjoy a twist of dancehall, see a top play and have a chance to win top prizes, all in one evening.

Following this performance, Keith “Shebada” Ramsay will make his debut in a new play from the Stages Productions camp in Jamaica. This new production is not slated to hit the U.S. until some time in 2011. Although the actor has thoroughly enjoyed his comedic role as Brother Shebby in “Serious Business,” he is excited about what the new play has to offer. And just as Keith “Shebada” Ramsay will take on a new effort following the encore performances of “Serious Business,” Irish and Chin will move on to stage a 10-city U.S. Tour of Stages Productions’ “The Plumber.” Currently hailed as Jamaica’s top comedy, “The Plumber’s” U.S. Tour will run in October 2010.

In every sense of the word, “Serious Business” is a summer hit. Patrons of the Brooklyn and Queens shows in early June left laughing and reciting many of the play’s punch lines. Don’t miss your last chance to see Keith “Shebada” Ramsay in “Serious Business” July 24-25. It will be an unforgettable night and the last chance to see the play, as it will not be touring again.
