‘Jamaica, Farewell‘, the groundbreaking one-woman play starring Debra Ehrhardt, returns to Jamaica for two shows only – on December 10 at the GoldenEye Hotel & Resort in Oracabessa, and on December 11 at the Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort & Spa in Ocho Rios.

‘Jamaica, Farewell’ is a one woman play based on the story of a woman’s journey from Jamaica to America during the Manley Era (1970s). She wrote it because it encapsulates one of the most adventurous, defining moments of her life.

Jamaica, Farewell, the groundbreaking one-woman play which debuted in Jamaica for one week in August, is back home for a second run. In August, Debra Ehrhardt’s Jamaica, Farewell ran for only five days at the Theatre Place, in New Kingston. Then, it was six sold out performances with demands for more, thus Bamboo Grove Productions has brought the play back to Jamaica; and this time it will have a one-month run with 15 shows in Kingston, one show in Mandeville and two shows in Montego Bay … More here – Gleaner report | Jamaica Observer report

Jamaica Farewell To Be Made Into A Movie?

Debra Ehrhardt got a standing ovation on the first night of Jamaica Farewell, which has been running at The Theatre place on Haining Road. The following morning, Ehrhardt revealed plans to make the one-woman play into a movie. Pre-production is set to begin within the next two years … more here

Today’s Sunday Observer newspaper carries a feature on actress/playwright Debra Ehrhardt and ‘Jamaica, Farewell‘, her latest effort.

Jamaica, Farewell is Ehrhardt’s latest effort, based on her momentous move to America. According to the actress, the one-woman show is about 90 per cent true, with just a “likkle” embellishment.
