The First Dramatisation Of An Anancy Folktale
On July 28, 1942, for the first time, an Anancy folktale is dramatised and presented on a public stage. The play – Anancy & The Goat – is written by journalist A.E.T. Henry and produced by Randolph ‘Ranny’ Williams and presented on the stage at Edelweiss Park. Williams also plays the role of Anancy.

Fool’s Paradise Opens At The Ward Theatre
On July 28, 1943, Fool’s Paradise, three-act play written by Mrs. Vere Johnson, is presented at the Ward Theatre in Downtown Kingston by the Jamaica Socio-Economic Society. Members of the cast include Elma Russell, Linette Chung and Beryl Anderson. Music is provided by George Nelson and his orchestra. The performance is in aid of the Allied Red Cross Fund, the Save The Children Fund and the Jamaica Socio-Charity Fund.
