Profiles

Stede Jooky Jam FlashAlthough ‘Officer Roy Lickshot’ engages in bribery, blackmail, shady deals and lots of racketeering, it is difficult to describe him as a corrupt cop. After all, corruption suggests that he benefits or even successfully carries out these activities and, in ‘Officer Roy’s case, that’s far from the truth. His attempts in Passa Passa Daily to manipulate the people on the plaza never seem to end up in his favour, and much too often he finds himself at the end of verbal and even physical abuse. That doesn’t stop him from trying. As he moves from shop to shop like a modern cowboy, his antics provide more humour for the audience than intimidation for the plaza residents! Masterfully played by Stede Flash, the plaza comes alive based on his agility, manipulation of his body (particularly his face), and excellent vocal range.

Stede, popularly known as “Jooky jam” which is one of the memorable characters he portrayed in the series “Maama Man”, has been doing commercial theatre for over two decades. He was first introduced to theatre by actor Ronald Goshop who was his drama tutor in high school. Stede’s first big break came in 1985 when he starred in Hyacinth Brown’s “Boopsie” and since then he has starred in a number of productions.

Written by Everton Dawkins and directed by Garfield Reid, Passa Passa Daily is the third installment of the Passa Passa series and features and exciting blend of talented actors. Cleve Warren returns as the popular “Chu Chu”, and is strongly supported by the accomplished Audrey Reid in the role of “Bibsy”. The cast of plaza characters also includes…Orville hall (Nyah), Luke Ellington (Stylish), Suzette Barrett (Pearl), Patrick Smith (Mayor Blackwood), Felisha Lord (Darling) and Evelyn Forbes (Icilda).
