At age 18, Suzette Barrett made her stage debut in Michael Denton’s “Hear Say”, which signaled the start of an extremely successful career. Having worked on smash hits such as “Two Fowl A Mi Yaad”, “Granny Rule I”, “Missa Dweet Nice”, “Passa Passa”, “More Passa”, “Crazy Landlord” and “Shebada Comes To Town” to name a few, Barrett has carved a name for herself through her undeniably powerful stage presence. Its a far cry from her initial aspirations, as Barrett is a trained cosmetologist; but based on her consistently positive reviews, she was born for the stage.
Her latest role, that of housewife ‘Brooklyn Dixon” in Cameron Anderson’s “Family Affair”, will highlight Barrett’s ability to not only master any character she is given, but to serve up a captivating performance to her audiences. As the unsuspecting wife whose husband’s mistress is now dating her son, Barrett never misses a beat, and her renewed match up with Cleve ‘Chu Chu’ Warren is a must-see.
She anticipates another comic hit; “I am always excited to be on stage, and I bring that excitement and energy to audiences in every single performance I’m going to be explosive!“, said Barrett.
Produced by DMH Productions, “Family Affair” kicks off this Heroes Weekend, starting with the premiere tomorrow, October 16, with two shows at the Green Gables Theatre. Show times – 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., Saturday thru Monday.
