On seeing ‘Family Affair’ for the second time in two nights, one patron reportedly exclaimed “this is the best show I’ve seen all year!”
Of the many exciting moments in the hot new ‘Family Affair’ comedy, audiences are reportedly spellbound by newcomer Kennise Watson, and her portrayal of Danielle Lloyd, the vengeful woman scorned. Danielle spins a deadly web, which she hopes will force her man – Richard Dixon – into continuing their extra marital affair regardless of the cost to his unsuspecting wife, Brooklyn, and son Vivian.
A determined lover or a psychopath .. that’s the question on the audience’s lips each night as the hilarious plot unfolds to its dramatic ending. Watson doesn’t miss a beat, and manages to keep pace with her more experienced co-stars – Cleve ‘Chu Chu’ Warren, Suzette Barrett and Lawrence Woodham. A final year Mass Communication major at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Watson first came to prominence in 2007 when she claimed the first runner up spot in the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Competition.
Though she has always been involved in the performing arts, ‘Family Affair’ is new ground for this girl from ‘St. Bess’. “I absolutely love the experience, especially the various reactions of the audience each night. In their eyes I move from victim to villain and its interesting to hear the things they say about the character as the show progresses,” Watson stated.
‘Family Affair’ is set for a limited run, and is currently showing at the Green Gables Theatre on Cargill Avenue in Kingston – Wednesdays to Fridays at 8 p.m., and Saturdays & Sundays at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
